Dryer Suicide

P2205790a

So my clothes dryer tried to commit suicide last night. Just before turning in for the night I remembered I had towels in the dryer, when I went out to fetch them I was surprised to find the dryer still running. I was puzzled as I thought it should have been done a long time ago, guess I was mistaken. Well as soon as I grabbed the towels out I knew I was not mistaken. Those towels were beyond piping hot. As you can see in the photo they were about 232° F. The timing dial had not budged so that is probably broken. That is about the only thing I haven't replaced on the old beast. The outside top of the dryer was a toasty 163° F.
